I started working on his hands and armature and realized I needed a break to think through the process.<br /><div></div><div></div><div></div><div><br />In the meantime, I combined my like for muertos/skeletal art and my love of birds and came up this. </div><div></div><div><br /><br />The body is made of paperclay over wire armature, leather eyerings, claws and distressed leather beak over paperclay. The wings and tail are trimmed, handcurled feathers from Barred Chinchilla Rooster quills. He's had a hard life for a doll.<br /><p>His head is made of air dry clay and he is currently in the drying stage. Once he is dry, I'll add color, texture and some final touches.
