Skeleton Birds!

Well, I have put Truman aside for a bit. I started working on his hands and armature and realized I needed a break to think through the process.

In the meantime, I combined my like for muertos/skeletal art and my love of birds and came up this.

The body is made of paperclay over wire armature, leather eyerings, claws and distressed leather beak over paperclay. The wings and tail are trimmed, handcurled feathers from Barred Chinchilla Rooster quills. Measurements are 2 3/4 in. tall, 2 3/4 in. wide and 3 3/4 in.from beak to tail.

I'm very pleased with the way it turned out and plan on making a whole series of them!
